Here's a dillema - When I go to create a sound my mind doesn't go to that place where..."oh I know...this sounds like a marshall, or an orange, or bogner". My ear just likes it or doesn't like it and picks up things like -

"bassy"
"wall buster"
"clean"

I guess what I can do is after I'm done creating see what it comes close to in the different categories and just find a close match. I think that might be a plan.

What you could do is create a series of each.. so the Parkway, Wall Buster Series, to sort of categorize them further..

Yeah I know. Hey...wait the answer cometh!! I'll call it parkway or wall buster [ha ha!]

Richard...it's my curse. I over think things. It's what I get for my past in risk management and systems & compliance auditor.

Not far from the truth. I was bringing work home plus working on 2 post grad degrees simultaneously.
The cool thing is that the little bit of programming I'd taken in college [visual basic] served me well.
Stuff happens - project dollars once allocated are no longer available until the next fiscal year - but stuff still gets broken so I would work with the IT department to get the systems coded so that we could abate the risk identified and put an effective band-aid on the problem until project dollars were available or until we could make a case for a six sigma project.

I learned a lot - but I sleep much better now that I'm no longer in that biz [ha ha].

Come to think of it - this must be pretty close to some of your nights with headcase performing analysis after analysis to come up with solutions?

Yep, its identical to my days here, but head case is only about 1/3 of my day. The rest of the day is taken up by communications and support (postings, email, telephone), then there is future products that are being developed, and strategy sessions, which can include risk assesment & legalities, an area I am not all too familiar with. Everyday is different though, so tasks change.
At one time I would work 14-16 hours a day, sometimes up to 18, but as you know that all ended in a stroke. Its really not hard to work 18 hours doing something you love, and a lot of times, even after 18 hours you still feel like you have not accomplished anything. I remember at one time taking a day off was cause for pictures, like it was a holiday or something!

So now I just don't do that anymore. I try to work 8 hours only, I must admit I'm back to 10 hours a day, but I am NOT going to raise that. What makes it difficult to work a normal 8 hour day is that ABG is spread out from The East and West coast USA, to Central Canada, to England, to Australia, to India, So we're all on differrent time zones. I end up working weird shifts, sometimes I find myself waking up at 3:00 AM to ensure that I speak with someone on the East coast before they go to work, then that same day working straight through until 4:00 am so I can speak to someone in Australia when they get home from work. In a situation like that I'll take a 2 hour break and watch a movie or something just to get my mind on something different, which is key to health.

It may seem like this is all a complaint, its not, the only complaint I have is that I can no longer work 16 hours, thats what pisses me off. I'm like a kid in a candy store every day, so why would I want to stop after 8 hours. There is so many cool things to be doing, from creating a new drum teacher type software, to testing new creations... WTF who wouldn't want to play all day.. right..

i understand about wanting to stretch the work day out as long as possible. I get locked into something and there's a part of my brain that just doesn't want to let go until i bring whatever "it" is to completion. As I've gotten older and have had some health issues crop up I've tried hard to balance it all out so I can have the best of all worlds.

Having said that it would be cool if we could max out the day to 32 or 48 hours instead of 24. That would be cool!
