There's an updated version coming up, but if you want to test it out you find the test-version here: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1369729/plugins/TSE_X30_v1.5beta.dll

*The gain/bass/treble knob response is improved (changed from linear to exponential) .. *The corner frequency of internal filters is closer to the real thing.. *Tube model optimized... *better cpu perfomance:D...

Very interesting free project, BTW - as always - an open source one would be even better (for *many* reasons)... Keep it in consideration. :cyclops:

There's no point in doing that with my approach, I have a 5600 lines of precomputed tables in there
I use a spice-like analog approach for my model, and you'll get the idea of what is going on if you read these two links:

I saw that Ken alerted you to VMWare on the ultimatemetal forum, are you going to attempt to try using that and code a MAC version to make some people happy

That would *indeed* make *some* of us happy, especially those of us who used to have this preamp a couple of years ago ;)

But don't worry Onqel, I've read a bit about the topic, and I know it's complicated (especially if you don't program with tools that will let you export straight as a Mac VST or AU). Just know that if you need help to beta test on Mac, I'll be here.

Definitely nicer high gain tone now in 1.5, way more defined!

How about an E840 power amp emulation to match onqel?? You'd make my day, i'd easily pay for the stuff

Cheers,
Jens

I agree, if power amps help to make the sound better, It would be nice to have one to use with all these successful free preamp sims.
What about making the poweramp sections of the heads you will release or released separable?I guess it would be a great way to experiment with the tone further.

I have a few other projects going on.. might make a poweramp eventually(separate)..
I'm working on a new ampsim, a stompbox, and a vintage preamp

There will be one new update of X30, I have changed the tubes to a different brand, and some stuff in my "library" is improved/updated.. It's getting even better with the last changes, in my opinion, that's the only point in updating it right? :P

Here's a mix I did with GodDamnGuitar's files @ Andy Sneap forum:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1369729/MP3/onqel_X30_GodDamn_song2.mp3
I'm having a cold, so I'm struggling with the low and high end, so it might sound weird.. and it's my first mix in months!!

Guitar chain:
DI's -> TSS -> TSE X30 v1.6 -> LeCab (Catharsis S-PresHigh) -> ReaXComp

Oh, and I didn't finish the clean guitars!

I'm flattered/honored that my comment/review from a KVR post about the X30 ended up as the description for this amp in the KVR plugin database :o :) .

Maybe you could keep both versions up if you "re-tube" it with differenet tubes, if it will sound different, unless it gets a much more accurate tone to the original amp specs, or you could just add it as a switch or a mod toggle thing, so you have the option.

Looking forward to that Bogner, wether it will be the Ecstasy as some have requested, or maybe the Fish preamp too. A Bogner Shiva would be welcomed too, so if you do all Bogner, everyone will have access to the Jerry Cantrell sound. Hmm, a stompbox too? An improved tube screamer or maybe a treble boost? If you do something more vintage, only a few people have done Laney's so far. I'd also like that sweet high gain crunch that Opeth gets from the Laney amps.

But it is now 2010, so what qualifies as vintage now?

Sounds thick and boomy to my ears, good sounding! You should do A/B tests just for fun with old versions!

Still some time until I have a new ampsim ready.. so I made a small update to this plugin since I've made some improvements to my 'library' while making the new sim :P
..and DaWolf updated the GUI ;)
old:
Image
new:
Image

So.. specs for this version:
- Updated GUI/Skin
- Updated internal processing library (filters/oversampling routine etc) (better response, less digital noise)
- Two different 12AX7 versions. The original Sovtek 12AX7 and a new Sylvania 12AX7 model.

The Sylvania model isn't as gainy as the Sovtek, but it gives the amp a nice feel and it makes the plugin sound closer to the real thing ;)

I mentioned it in the post above.. In short: Different tube models ;)
The Sylvania model isn't as gainy as the Sovtek, but it gives the amp a nice feel and it makes the plugin sound closer to the real thing ;) (The tube models inside the amp are based on Spice models, that are derived from the manufacturers datasheets)

Big props to you for continuing to optimize and expand on this sim. You're doing great work and it's definitely appreciated. I'll throw up a blurb about the recent build on my blog later today if that's alright with you, and add it to the freeware master list if I haven't already (sorry, it's sort of big and poorly formatted, I've been busy with work and haven't had a chance to re-format the list yet).
