PM sent, regarding AU plugins. Sorry for the delay but I've been busy making a JS2400 'custom clone' from an old Squire Strat I had knocking around :D

Really great work.

What did you use to mess with the .dll?

Easiest thing to do is upload images to a host like Mediafire,Dropbox, etc. Then who ever wants modify dll can do it them self.32bit or 64 bit.

These are instruction for a different vst to change skin ..but would be same for all vst's I assume.

Swapping the Images
-------------------
- Go to http://ntcore.com/exsuite.php and grab a copy of Explorer Suite.

- Install, run CFF Explorer.exe, drag Limiter6 DLL into window.

- In the tree on the left, go to 'Resource Editor'. (2nd from bottom.)

- Click the + next to the PNG folder which has now become visible.

Rightclick 100, select 'Replace Resource (Raw)', navigate to the folder

containing the replacement images, select 100.png

- Replace 101 with 101.png, 102 with 102.png, and so forth

- When all 20 images are replaced, save

EDIT: OK I just tried loading one of LePou's plugins in CFF and in resource folder>PNG folder there are no images files just hex data.So I dont think you can do it this way with LePou's plugins.I dont know If you can just rename the image files and replace raw data with image file.

I just use ResourceHacker and replace each .png one by one, the simply resave the .dll

Where can you get the images from??Id like to try to re-skin 64 bit versions using Resource Hacker.I have done a few other vst's using the other program but like I said other program doesnt show the images just hex data with LePou plugins.
I really like the look of the old beat looking Marshall.

Yes, at some point. I did start work on a TPA-1 Mesa 2:Fifty skin but didn't manage to complete it before I got "VST skin fatigue"

I'll try an get round to finishing it off sometime :)

Well after trying with Resource Hacker I couldnt get it to load in Reaper. I used the Beta version .With stable version I could not even figure how to replace the PNG's.It wanted name, type of resource and some other shit info I just named files the name of the PNG and as type as PNG then the repace button became active but still couldnt get it to work.
With the Beta I was able to replace PNG's easily enough and then save.
Just Reaper didnt like what resource Hacker did to .dll. Error like when your using a 32 bit version and try to use a 64 bit plug in.
I dont know If there is away of taking a PNG and converting into Hex to do a "raw replace" in Explorer Suite.
I gave up after about 15 minutes because I just couldnt get a working .dll outta resource hacker.Tried like 3 times.

I had the same problem with Resource Hacker, but only if I did "Save As..." after replacing the .png files. If I just Closed and Saved Changes the .dll loaded into Reaper just fine.

Maybe try that next time, and let me know how you get on :)

I work with Restorator http://www.bome.com/products/restorator
Everything works fine. I open and save in the 32 and 64-bit format.

Hey Fat, I really like your skinning skills. I am making custom skateboards lately. Could you send me your info and get back to me? I made a couple of real quick examples. I've lurked around here and used many of these ampsims for years.

You two didn't miss the boat. But supposedly you have to be a member of the Skinory of Sion to get the skins. It's an ancient secret society from the early 1990th. And if asked members will never disclose their membership or the existance of the Skinory.

I agreed with LePou not to upload either modified .dll files, or links to modified .dll files (which I think is very fair). There is no 'secret club'!

If anyone would like a copy of any of the VSTs I have modified, feel free to send me a PM, and I will send you a link to my Dropbox folder (which has about 30 plugins in it, by various creators).
