Hey mates, thanks for the comments about my head, but mine is not even close as good as yours!
I wanna buy headcase so bad. 8)
I can not help being constantly amazed by the originality and the sound of Headcase ..
Before entering here into the world of modeling, I was the wave of DIY and stuff, but had lost all the excitement about it (and lots of time & $ for nothing...).
With Headcase now, all those feelings that before dying, ressurrected. Thank you. =)

Instead of taking names (as there are too many and i don't wanna miss any) , i'd rather also just thank each one of you for your contributions / efforts / passions and what not.

It's such a great feeling to see you guys coming up with some awesome heads in no time.

I havent' had much time to play with heads, but the two i played with (masterminds engl and the plex clone) I am liking them quite a bit.

Mastermind's : Engl-ish, head though felt bit on bass side with mimic, however that added bass goes very well with internal filter cabs and ext Ir's.
I threw a lot IR's to this head and it took em all like a pro whore (it's a compliment.. haha)

2qiller2: Plexi sounded quite nice from the start. It also works quite well with external stomps.

really great stuff guys.
keep em coming!

2qiller2,
the image you posted in not usable as photobucket messes/alters up and strips the data from the head.
I would suggest to perhaps use dropbox as then you can use the url to embed the image within [ img ] and [/ img ]

Hi all,

I've not really had time to try the Builder, but I did take the Guillotine head and modify it a bit then saved it as a custom head. I guess that's how to do it right?

For the rest of the time I've been trying out all of your creations. They're really nice. Wish I had a bit more time to do my own.
I've only found a couple of problems

I have an M-Audio Fastrack USB ASIO interface. But the builder in standalone mode won't work with it. All of the channels except 1 Left just produce noise. Unfortunately 1 Left is a XLR Mike input. I CAN use it as a VST though.

On mimic cabs the mic positions all say N/A . I now found the checkbox mic placement!!! I don't really see the point of that checkbox. Although by default, if I switch it on it does change the sound a little even if I don't move anything.

Phil

Phil ,
1:I also use m-audio fast track: you have to select the right channel in input to make it work the left channel is xlr while right becomes high Z.

2: Mimic, as the name suggests has an internal virtual processor. The checkbox enables/disables that.
With the checkbox disabled you are just hearing the IR. either the internal or external, however when you enable the checkbox, you can move the mic/speaker for different tonality, keep in mind that all this is still being done from that single IR on that channel (like virtual speaker simulation using that IR), unlike Iface which uses different IR's for each position.

Yep exactly as Amit says. We got the name Mimic because it ihas the ability to "MIMIC" mic even though the IR was not recorded with the mic in that position. Its not perfect for sure, but I have found a lot of IR files that I would never use before, I will use in MIMIC..

Mimics is great.PERIOD. Whichever way you use it, with or without external IR's, it gives superb tonal spectrum. Simply put it's cool, and the ability to create new irs with it...ah...I lack words, Ken. Head Case is a Monster, in the best possible meaning. Hope to catch it released soon. Good ol' luck!

Well after making iFace, I really started to miss the simplicity of sliding the mic to change the tone. So, we looked at Cab IR files where the recording process, mic used, Mic placement, and distances were known. This gave us a pretty good idea of how the frequencies changed when the mic distances changed. All we had to do was set up some filters to do the same thing. It seemed to have a useable/predictable affect, so we went with it. It will work great with some CAB IR files, and really Crapp fopr others. As with all things head case... Use your ears, if it sounds good, it is good.. :)

Thats the whole premise behind the design screens in head case builder. Its meant for you to adjust the inner working of the head the same way you would adjust a bass knob. Obviously you would turn the bass knob until what you hear is what you want, the same goes for adjusting "even harmonics", or Mid knob power, etc.. Adjust them until what you hear sounds right as well. This way the heads designed in HCB are very personal based on your own experience of what a particular head sounds like. Every one is different, and no two heads are exactly the same in the real world.

Where this approach really becomes interesting is when you begin to design from what you hear in your brain without any thought of what a real world head sounds like. IOW your own original designs. My latest head TOXIN was designed like this.

It would be nice to see values for the fx section parameters particularly for delay times rather than just guessing roughly where the knob is at. Is there any way I could install the skulljob.jpg head from version 1.01 into 1.53? I tried renaming it as a zip file & extracting it but no luck. The more I play around with this amp sim the more I'm loving it!

No, but I was thinking as soon as I get more time I want to try and do a closer rendition of skull job one for HC.
The hard part is setting the values exact because even though a cut may say 108 hz, its probably more like 108.76345 etc. You never know the exact setting unless you double click in the text sliders and cuts at the beginning of the head cascade all through the entire head. So their affect is amplified the closer to the input they are..
