Amp Room and Metal Amp Room Presets

RULES, PLEASE READ.

Postby Alu » Tue Sep 22, 2009 7:43 am

Welcome to http://www.guitarampmodeling.com
This forum is about guitar/bass digital modeling, here you can find a lot of user-created presets and demo clips of most of the amp modeling software and hardware available.

This forum is free and full of usefull informations, but it's primarily a community. We don't want it to be just a big presets archive.
We would like to have collaborations/suggestions/interactions between users, in order to help each other to solve issues, get opinions, improve knowledge about amp-sims and most of all, improve our final sounds/mixes.

If you want to be a part of the community, here is a list of rules you have to know:

1- This forum only allows polite discussions. Insults of any kind (race/religion/political ideas/etc.) will not be tollerated here.
2- You're absolutely not allowed to talk, or upload, or link cracks/warez/illegal material.
3- You're not allowed to upload copyrighted material if you don't own the rights on it, even if it's free stuff (VST or VSTi for example). The only exception are skinned plugins (a modified version of GUI-less plugins), but make sure to write the author name on the skins you make.
4- Advertising is not always allowed. If you have a small amount of posts and link a non-free product, moderators will evaluate if consider it advertising/spam and eventually delete your post and lock the topic.
5- Admin/Moderators have the faculty to edit, move or delete any post they consider inapropriate in any given circumstance.
6- The punishments (bans and stuff) are left to the moderators consideration, thus the magnitude of any sanction, being questionable, does not force the mods to give further explanations.

Restrictions
We decided to add restrictions on some sections to avoid spam and to "force" users to be constructive.
Some sections may be restricted. If you want to open a thread on those sections you need to have at least a certain number of posts, or the system (or the mods) will avoid your thread.
Please, don't make 10 "Thank you" useless posts just to increase your postcount, since it will be considered spam and all your posts will be deleted.

If you go against one of this rules, you'll be warned and invited to read this post (because we know that users hardly read the rules).
If you keep on doing it, you will be banned from the community.

Hi, I've created a skin pack for guitar rig 4 software.
I would like to share my work but I want to know if this it's allowed in this forum and I don't want to have copyright or legal problems!!!
Do you think it's possible?

Hi Alu,
You were right, capturing impulses is (relatively) easy, especially if it's a software amp sim. I did a quick A/B comparison, and it's virtually identical, even when looking at the frequency spectrum in SPAN.
Ahhhhhhhh, the POWWWWWEEEEERRRRR!    THERE IS NOTHING THAT CAN STOP ME NOW!!!! (Cue thunder & lightning)

Seriously, though, this is very cool..wish I had more microphones! haha. I'll continue experimenting and refining things, and in the near future I'll upload some treats :)

But now, I have a bunch of questions for you guys. First, an easy one, related to Rules, that I think I already know the answer to (unfortunately):

Is it legal to share impulses that you created of a commercial software amp sim? The reason I ask is that someone was looking for particular ones and I could potentially help them out, but not if it's illegal, obviously. (Just to be clear, I'm talking about impulses that I myself create using a sine-sweep, NOT copying & distributing any installed IR files, etc, etc). Just figured I'd ask the experts...my other questions are more about the technical stuff (..different thread).
Thanx.

To be honest, I don't know if it's legal or not...
Thinking about it, there is a pack of IRs captured from the Line6 Pod XT floating around the net and Line6 never complained about it, but maybe they don't know.

I would prefer to not have those software derived IRs here, since it is a public forum and as a moderator, I don't want to have problems with companies complaining about it...
As you said, anyway, capturing IRs from a software is really easy and takes 2 minutes, so there is no really need to upload them here.

Hope you understand

Yes, actually there are quite a few different Line 6 IRs, not just the PodXT ones (I think I have them all as a matter of fact!). I haven't heard of any legal problems either. The reason I was going to share these IRs is because the user downloading them doesn't have that particular software, whereas I do. It's obviously not going to be the same thing, but when combined with an amp sim it can impart that "character" from the original.

However, I totally understand your position, so I won't upload those. Maybe I'll get around to actually asking the companies' permission to see what their view is on it.

I'll get back to you on my technical questions for my IRs of real amps, if that's ok.
Thanx for the info.

Hello,

Is it illegal to post using a "backing track"? I found a site where every song on the site is a song with the guitars removed or someone else performing the song with no guitars. I posted Foo Fighters "My Hero". That's them just as it is on the original except I'm playing the guitar parts and theirs have been removed.

The guitars I played and recorded to my iMac using Garage Band, Guitar Rig 4's tuner and TransAmp distortion component and Recabinet 3's 1960 cabinet IR to try to dial in the tone. Final mix spread the seven guitars left, right and center.

I also posted the track with just the guitars. http://soundcloud.com/torren61/my-hero-guitars-only

Is this kind of post illegal? If so, please delete mine and let me know so I don't do it again.

I'm a new Amplitube3 user and I was looking for presets. I went to the post for SRV, read the post, but it said I didn't have the rights to download the associated file. How do I get the rights?
